Tru Plumbing and Gas Sponsors BIAOW Scholarship to Support Students in the Trades

Niceville, FL — As the cost of college rises, more and more high school students are looking for alternative career paths that offer financial security and job satisfaction. Meanwhile, there is a labor shortage of over 500,000 workers in the construction industry, per Associated Builders and Contractors. Tru Plumbing and Gas, in Niceville, is aware of this trend and is working to promote trades as a viable and rewarding option.

In partnership with the Building Industry Association of Okaloosa-Walton Counties, Inc. (BIAOW), Tru Plumbing and Gas is proud to support the future of the trades by sponsoring the Mike Josey Memorial Scholarship. Two promising young students were awarded the scholarship on June 20th at BIAOW’s State of the State event.

"We're investing in our community and giving the next generation of tradesmen and tradeswomen a chance to succeed by sponsoring scholarships," said Cody Kearns, CEO of Tru Plumbing and Gas. "As a lifelong plumber, I know firsthand the joy and prosperity that comes with a career in the trades. We need to continue to support and encourage this path for young people."

The Mike Josey Memorial Scholarship was established by BIAOW in honor of the late Mike Josey, a Crestview native and past First Vice President of the BIAOW. Josey was dedicated to serving his community and his fellow man. It is the hope of the BIA that recipients of this award will honor it through their commitment to service above self.
